Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to deliver high-quality patient care in an outpatient setting, under provider supervision. The role includes rooming, vital signs, basic procedures, EKGs, wound care, medication administration, phlebotomy, specimen processing, and EMR documentation.

Team-oriented and safety-conscious, you will support scheduling and patient communications. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred; CMA or RMA certification is required,

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited 1-year certificate or 2-year diploma Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required.
• Certified by one of the listed governing associations required: NHA, AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, AAH, or AMCA.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and documents patient information using the rooming tool in the EMR.
• Sets up examination and treatment rooms between cases.
• Assists patient as needed to prepare for visit with provider and ensures safety and privacy.
• Performs EKGs, wound dressings, and supports the provider during minor procedures.
• Prepares and administers medications per policy after competency validation.
• Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and performs phlebotomy as trained.
• Performs receptionist and clerical duties including filing and documentation in medical records.
• Documents comprehensively to create a complete medical record in the EMR.
