Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System in Shawnee is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide patient care in the physician office setting. You will assist providers, coordinate patient care and act as liaison between patients, families, staff and physicians.

Work Shift: Day Shift, 40 hours per week, GPC Shawnee department. Requires CMA certification or board registration, CPR within 30 days, knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory techniques, and ability to perform phlebotomy, immunizations,

Qualifications

• Must have CMA certification or board registration (e.g. AAMA)
• NHA certification pathway within 6 months: 1 year clinical work or health field training
• CPR certification within 30 days of employment
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
• Understanding of laboratory techniques
• Knowledge of ICD/CPT coding
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to analyze and interpret clinical data with critical thinking

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with examinations and procedures
• Schedule diagnostic tests, surgeries and pre-admission testing
• Perform CLIA-waived tests, ECGs, respiratory testing, and phlebotomy
• Prepare and administer medications and immunizations
• Administer patient injections and document treatments
• Communicate with patients and families; maintain records and prepare packets
