Job summary

Genesis HealthCare System seeks a Certified Medical Assistant to support physicians in an office setting. You will assist with exams, schedule tests, perform CLIA-waived tests, and help with meds and injections.

You will collect specimens, document patient data, and liaise between patients, families, and providers. Eligible for CMA certification and CPR; strong clinical knowledge is needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• CMA certification or board registration, with eligibility within 6 months of hire.
• CPR certification within 30 days of employment.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology required.
• Understanding of laboratory techniques.
• Knowledge of coding and reimbursement systems ICD, CPT.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians with examinations and office procedures.
• Schedules diagnostic tests, surgeries and pre-admission testing.
• Performs initial-response screening following physician protocols.
• Performs CLIA-waived tests, ECGs, respiratory testing, and venipuncture.
• Prepares and administers medications and immunizations as directed.
• Administers patient injections as needed.
• Documents prescriptions entered by physicians and communicates with pharmacy.
• Interacts with patient and family as liaison among care teams.
• Maintains infection control and aseptic technique.
• Collects and processes specimens.
• Maintains examination rooms and inventory.
• Recognizes and responds to emergencies.
• Obtains patient history and vital signs, prepares for exams.
• Documents patient communications and treatments in records.
• Prepares patient information packets.
