Job summary

Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare seeks a Medical Assistant to provide patient care in a clinical setting, maintaining a clean environment, and assisting providers. The role includes mentoring Level I Medical Assistants in the same office, with a focus on compassionate care and adherence to the mission and values.

Responsibilities include patient support during visits, scheduling, data collection, phlebotomy support, EKGs, immunizations, and patient education, under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• Preferred Technical Degree or Diploma Medical Assistant.
• 3-5 years of Medical Assistant experience required.
• HEARTSAVER certification is required.
• NCCT Medical Assistant certification required.
• AMT Registered Medical Assistant preferred.
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant preferred.
• Nationally Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• AAMA Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Proactively assists patients throughout visits and accompanies to exam rooms.
• Handle scheduling, imaging exams, lab callbacks, prior authorizations, and forms.
• Record patient data including vitals and history with accurate documentation.
• Assist with physical exam preparations as directed.
• Perform EKGs, remove sutures, and change dressings as directed.
• Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Administer medications and immunizations under physician direction.
• May authorize prescription refills and relay information to pharmacies.
• Provide first aid or CPR in emergencies.
• Prepare and maintain exam/procedure rooms and sterile supplies.
• Order and stock supplies for exam rooms.
• Provide patient education and instructions under physician supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
