Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians in a busy Wilkes-Barre clinic. The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program and certified (CMA or RMA).

Responsibilities include patient intake, rooming, basic clinical procedures, phlebotomy, and lab support within a comprehensive care setting. You will work with a team to ensure patient safety, accurate documentation, and timely referrals while leveraging the electronic medical record for scheduling

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited 1-year certificate or 2-year diploma Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and documents patient information, vital signs, and visit details in the electronic medical record.
• Sets up examination and treatment rooms between cases.
• Assists patients for visits and ensures safety and privacy.
• Provides direct patient care as directed, including basic procedures and assisting with minor surgeries.
• Prepares and administers medications per policy (no IV).
• Completes tests and treatments per provider orders.
• Performs phlebotomy and supports laboratory duties.
• Performs receptionist and clerical tasks to support patient care.
• Documents in medical records and uses EMR and scheduling systems.
