Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support physicians and nursing staff in a busy ambulatory care setting. The CMA will perform clinical and clerical tasks, assist with patient preparation, and ensure accurate documentation and patient education.

Under physician guidance, the CMA will conduct point-of-care testing, manage specimen collection, and support a safe, efficient workflow.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant in a physician office setting or completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program.
• High School Diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of MA experience or completion of an accredited MA program.
• American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.
• Ability to type proficiently and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Within 1 year of hire, obtain CMA/RMA/NCMA/CCMA/NRCMA or RN/LPN license as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients and provides direct patient care under supervision of a physician or RN/LPN.
• Performs point-of-care testing and basic lab procedures as directed.
• Records medical histories, medications, vital signs, and patient information.
• Assists with office procedures and patient examinations.
• Maintains infection control standards and proper documentation in the medical record.
