Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians, nurses, and staff by facilitating patient flow and performing clinical and administrative tasks. The role emphasizes patient interactions, room preparation, and adherence to safety and confidentiality standards.

The candidate will assist with ECGs, venipuncture, immunizations, and CLIA-waived tests, while maintaining inventory and room readiness. Certification within six months and BLS/CPR are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification within six months of employment after up to two test attempts.
• BLS/CPR certification required.
• Zero to two years of experience in a relevant role.
• Strong computer skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Assures efficient patient flow through the site: Escorts patient to exam room, identifies patient with 2 identifiers and prepares patient for examination.
• Assists practitioner with medical and surgical procedures per established protocols (ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, specimen collection, CLIA waived testing).
• Maintains exam rooms and supplies; disinfects equipment; monitors vaccine/medication inventory; disposes expired items.
• Interacts with patients in a professional, friendly manner to promote satisfaction and supports the care team.
• Performs delegated procedures in the specialty area as directed by the supervisor or manager.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
