Job summary

Qualifications

• 1 year Medical assistant preferred.
• 2 years Clerical/customer service experience - ideally in a health care related industry preferred.
• 1 year experience with third party payors and computer data entry for patient demographics preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required within 6 months.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire.
• Medical Terminology Certificate preferred within 30 days.
• MA program completed from an accredited body is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives and directs messages to appropriate personnel. Handles calls and communications for department operations.
• Maintains patient scheduling and sets appointments.
• Interviews and completes patient registration.
• Enters patient dispositions, diagnostic codes, orders and payments in the EMR.
• Performs cashiering for co-payments and patient payments.
• Perform venipuncture and administer routine medications under supervision.
• Collect routine lab specimens as directed by the provider.
• Perform basic lab procedures and take patient vitals.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and treatment team.
