Job summary

University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) in Peoria, IL seeks a Medical Assistant (Certified/Credentialed) to support a multi-specialty clinic focused on women’s health and geriatrics. You will perform clinical and clerical tasks, document in the EHR, and assist with scheduling follow-ups, procedures, and referrals.

The role requires a current MA certification, a high school diploma, and strong communication. On-site, Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Current/valid medical assistant certification by an approved certifying board as defined by the employing institution

Responsibilities

• Answer inbound calls to clinic and ensure timely communication.
• Schedule follow-up appointments as needed.
• Greet and assist patients during check-in, verifying insurance information and updating demographics.
• Support office operations, including referrals, pre-authorizations, and related documentation.
• Maintain accurate patient records in the EHR.
• Assist with scheduling and coordinating tests, procedures and follow-ups.
• Provide clinical support under physician and nurse supervision, including vitals and rooming.
• Enter provider orders into the EHR per policy and protocol.
• Coordinate inter-department communication and patient referrals.
• Assist with data entry and record management as needed.
