Novant Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support an OB/GYN clinic in Charlotte. You will perform intakes, prepare charts, assist with exams, administer medications, and manage in-office lab work, all while ensuring patient safety and education.

Ideal candidates hold CMA/CCMA/RMA or are ready to obtain certification within 6 months, with prior medical office experience and strong teamwork. This role emphasizes accuracy, empathy, and quality care in a busy clinical environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CMA/CCMA/RMA certified preferred or obtainable within 6 months of hire.
• Current CMA/CCMA/RMA certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Experience in a medical office setting and working with EMR systems helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake, record vital signs and medical history.
• Prepare patients and charts for provider visits.
• Assist OB/GYN providers with exams, procedures, and treatments within scope.
• Administer medications and immunizations as ordered.
• Perform venipuncture, specimen collection, and in-office lab testing.
• Track and report lab results; complete required quality documentation.
• Document care and code visits, labs, and procedures in the EMR.
• Support referrals, scheduling, registration, and check-out as needed.
• Reinforce patient education and self-care instructions with clear language.
• Collaborate with providers to improve workflows and patient experience.
• Maintain competencies, certifications, and ongoing education.
• Demonstrate a patient-focused CMA mindset in a fast-paced OB/GYN setting.

What We're Looking For

• Education:High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA)
  • RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
• If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement.
• Experience:Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required. Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required.
• Additional skills required:Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
