Job summary

Novant Health Nunnelee Pediatrics in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our team. In this role you will provide both clinical and administrative support, welcoming patients, taking vital signs, assisting with examinations, immunizations, and basic lab duties to help deliver outstanding care.

The CMA will collaborate with providers in a pediatric setting, perform venipuncture and specimen collection, maintain EMR records, and support scheduling, insurance

Qualifications

• CMA certification with CMA, CCMA, RMA or other approved registries; if not certified, must obtain within 6 months and sign an education agreement.
• Preferred prior medical office experience.
• Current driver’s license (Palliative Care Only) if applicable.
• Must complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.

Responsibilities

• Build meaningful connections with patients and support their healthcare journey.
• Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and patient care activities.
• Perform venipuncture, specimen collection, and other clinical laboratory responsibilities.
• Maintain accurate patient records, referrals, and EMR documentation.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including: CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA) RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT) American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement.
• Experience: Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required. Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required.
• Additional skills required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
