Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Medical Assistant in North Wilkesboro, NC to support providers and care teams. You will prepare exam rooms, take vital signs, assist during exams, document histories, and help with patient forms and scheduling.

The role emphasizes teamwork, patient comfort, and efficient care delivery, with onboarding on day one benefits and opportunities for ongoing certification. A high school diploma or GED and current CMA/CCMA/RMA certification or eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a medical office setting.
• Current CMA/CCMA/RMA certification or eligibility within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to complete department-specific skills validation and competency testing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and assist providers in delivering healthcare services.
• Assist providers during exams and procedures.
• Take vital signs and obtain medical histories.
• Assist with patient forms including FMLA and other needs.
• Prepare patients and exam rooms for treatment.
• Ensure safe, quality, and cost-effective care for patients.
• Engage in teamwork and community involvement to enhance patient care.
• Float within the practice to handle inbasket work when needed.

What You'll Do

• Ensure safe, quality, and cost-effective care for patients.

• Will float within the practice to handle inbasket work/fill-in when someone is off or busy

What We're Looking For

• Education:High School Diploma or GED, required.
  
  • Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including: CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA) RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT) American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement, required.
• Experience:Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification:Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required. Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required.
• Additional skills required:Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
