Job Summary

The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for gathering, screening, communicating, and acting under delegation from a provider, registered nurse, or Licensed Practical Nurse, within their scope of practice. The role involves a combination of clerical and clinical duties.

1. Clerical responsibilities: greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and updating electronic medical records (EMR).
2. Clinical responsibilities: rooming patients, taking medical histories, recording vital signs, preparing exam rooms, explaining treatments, assisting during examinations, and facilitating patient flow.

Must be a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma, GED, or graduate of a Medical Assistant Program.
• Experience: No experience required.
• Certification and Licensure: BLS Certification and current Medical Assistant Certification through recognized bodies such as AAMA, AMT, NCCT, AMCA, NAHP, or NHA. Other certifications require THMG Leadership approval.
• Skills: Computer proficiency, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and general clerical skills.
