Job summary

UNC Health Care in Chapel Hill, NC, seeks a Medical Assistant II, Certified, to provide clinical and administrative support in an outpatient Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery clinic. The role works under supervision of a provider and manager, supporting local procedures and patient flow.

The position requires MA certification and at least 1 year of experience; BLS is required. The clinic offers on-site work, standard hours Monday–Friday, with free parking and a $7,500 commitment incentive paid

Qualifications

• Must have Medical Assistant certification (AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA).
• At least 1 year of full-time Medical Assistant experience.
• BLS/CPR certification required.
• Completion of a Medical Assisting program preferred but not required.
• Outpatient clinic experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs rooming/intake including vital signs and reason for visit data collection.
• Collects patient/family data including medical and social history.
• Reviews medication list, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.
• Assists provider during treatments/examinations/procedures.
• Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
• Prepares/administers medications under provider supervision.
• Performs tests (e.g., EKG, basic eye exams) under provider direction.
• Reviews records for routine health screenings.
• Ensures exam room has supplies, equipment, forms, and educational materials.
• Provides after-visit/follow-up/self-care instructions as directed.
• Prepares, cleans, stocks, and maintains exam rooms.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
• Assists with patient registration, check-in/out, scheduling, referrals.
• Answers clinic calls and assists inbox under supervision.
• Assists in emergencies as directed.
• May precept/train other medical assistants and support clinic safety/quality audits.
