Job summary

UNC Health in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant II, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support in a busy outpatient clinic. You will work under the supervision of a provider and clinic manager to assist with patient care and registration processes.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, collecting vital signs, assisting with procedures, drawing blood, and delivering post-visit instructions.

Qualifications

• At least one year of full-time experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified.
• Completion of a Medical Assisting program strongly preferred but not required.
• Current Medical Assistant certification from AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA is required.
• CPR/BLS certification from AHA or ARC is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform rooming and intake, including vital signs, height, weight, and reason for visit.
• Collect patient data including medical and social history.
• Review medications, allergies, and pharmacy preferences.
• Assist provider during treatments and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens.
• Administer medications under supervision.
• Conduct tests such as EKG or eye exams as directed.
• Prepare and stock exam rooms; ensure supplies are ready.
• Provide post-visit instructions and educational materials.
• Register patients, check-in/out, schedule tests and referrals.
• Assist in answering clinic calls and triage under supervision.
