Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Medical Assistant II, Certified to support NC Surgery main office and Cary location in an outpatient clinic setting. The role involves clinical duties under supervision and administrative tasks under a manager. A $7,500 commitment incentive is offered.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of full-time MA experience, current MA certification, and BLS. The position is onsite in Raleigh, NC, with standard 40-hour weeks.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program is strongly preferred but not required.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant by AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA is required.
• Basic Life Support certification (AHA/ARC) required.

Responsibilities

• Performs rooming and intake including vital signs and patient data.
• Collects medical and social history data from patients and families.
• Reviews medication list, allergies, and preferred pharmacy.
• Assists provider during treatments, exams and procedures.
• Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
• Administers medications as directed by provider.
• Performs tests like EKG and eye exams per provider guidance.
• Ensures exam rooms have supplies and are ready for visits.
• Provides patient with post-visit instructions and educational materials.
• Prepares, cleans, stocks, and maintains exam and treatment rooms.
• Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
• Assists with patient registration, check-in/out and scheduling.
• Answers clinic phones and assists in-basket under clinician supervision.
• Assists in emergencies as directed by a provider or nurse.
• May precept or train other Medical Assistants and support clinic quality/safety tasks.
