Job summary

Waco Family Medicine is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support providers with patient assessments, vital signs, and documentation in the EHR. You will administer medications per orders, perform routine tests, and educate patients on treatment plans while maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities include assisting with minor procedures, coordinating referrals, and ensuring exam rooms are prepared and stocked.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; CMA program completed.
• Completion of accredited medical assisting program with externship.
• CMA certification from AAMA or equivalent.
• CPR certification required.
• Texas Driver’s License.
• 1 year of healthcare admin/MA experience preferred.
• Proficiency with basic computer tools and EHR.
• Bilingual skills preferred; strong communication.
• Must work within CMA scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist provider with initial patient assessments and vital signs.
• Administer medications per orders (oral, IM, IV, sub-q, intradermal) with documentation.
• Collect and document test results (EKG, spirometry, vision/hearing, etc.).
• Prepare patients for procedures and assist during minor surgeries.
• Educate patients on disease processes, medications, and treatments.
• Manage EHR messages, test results, and outside records; coordinate referrals.
• Schedule appointments with specialists and document details in records.
• Maintain exam rooms sanitary and stocked; handle faxes and lab requests.
