Job summary

The Certified Medical Assistant at MUSC Community Physicians provides multi-skilled support to a decentralized patient-centered care model. Tasks include taking vital signs, preparing exam rooms, and assisting physicians during examinations.

Eligible candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and complete an accredited medical assisting program; certification through AMT/AAMA/NHA/MedCA and current BLS are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred.
• Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.
• Current certifications in medical assisting and BLS are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients, records vital signs (pulse, temp, BP, weight, height) and inputs data into medical records.
• Prepares treatment rooms and assists physicians during examinations.
• Performs multi-skilled activities to support decentralized, patient-centered care.
• Maintains basic computer skills and participates in annual competencies.
