Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies in Massachusetts is hiring a part-time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for MCI-Framingham, Framingham, MA. The role includes clinical and administrative duties within a correctional setting, with a 16 hours/week daytime shift.

The CMA must hold a CMA credential (AAMA/NHA) and have CMA training, plus one year of emergency or correctional service experience. Competitive benefits and 401K are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or relevant qualification.
• Minimum one year experience in emergency or correctional service.
• Certified Medical Assistant and completed CMA training program.
• CMA credential through AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants), NHA (National HealthCare Association) or similar recognized organization.
• Good understanding of medical and pharmacological terminology.

Responsibilities

• Work within a correctional facility.
• Administer medications and record daily medication to patients in state- approved facilities and completing other delegated nursing tasks allowed by state law.
• Order stock medication on an as-needed basis, not to exceed established maximum inventory levels.
• Reconcile daily medications received from pharmacy against faxed order form.
• Distribute ordered medications to their appropriate storage area ensuring all stock medications are rotated, and all outdated medications are returned to the pharmacy.
• Coordinate with different nurses to assist with patient care. Observe patients and document changes in their condition.
• Notify pharmacy of incarcerated individuals transfers or release.
• Seek guidance from the nurse as needed to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
