Job Description

The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to patients based on medical orders and the care plan under the physician's supervision.

Qualifications
  • Licensure, Certification, or Registration: Current Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized national professional association such as the American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologists, National Healthcareer Association, American Registry of Medical Assistants, or similar.
  • CPR Certification: AHA BLS HCP or equivalent.
Experience
  • Required: One year of medical assistant experience within the last three years if not a graduate of a medical assistant program; no experience required if graduated from an accredited program.
  • Preferred: 2-3 years of experience as a CMA, previous experience in an academic healthcare setting, proficiency with computers and software.
Education
  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting training program (CAAHEP or ABHES).
Responsibilities
  • Provide patient care, emotional support, and problem-solving under supervision.
  • Handle medications and supplies as needed.
  • Follow hospital, nursing, and unit policies.
Additional Requirements
  • Work all shifts, including weekends and holidays, with schedules determined by the Nurse/Practice Manager.
  • Physical activities include lifting, standing, sitting, bending, walking, climbing, reaching.
  • Must adapt to a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities.
