Job Opportunity: Certified Medical Assistant

Sign-On Bonus: $5,000 for offers accepted by June 30, 2025. Terms and Conditions apply.

The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to patients based on medical orders and the care plan under the physician's supervision.

Work Environment: The Ambulatory Float Pool includes multiple specialty practices across our clinics in Richmond. Support adult and pediatric patients in specialties such as Urology, Neurology, Dermatology, Women's Health, Orthopedics, and more. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, with no weekends or nights. Mileage reimbursement may be available for distances beyond 25 miles from VCU Medical Center.

Licensure and Certification Requirements

• Current Medical Assistant Certification from a recognized national organization (e.g., AAMA, AMT, NHC, ARMA, NHANES).
• AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.

Experience

• Required: One year of medical assistant experience within the last three years if not a graduate of a medical assistant program; no experience required if graduated from an accredited program.
• Preferred: 2-3 years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant; experience in an academic healthcare setting.

Education/Training

• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program (CAAHEP or ABHES).

Additional Requirements

• Functions under supervision of licensed practitioners, managers, or RNs; may include handling medications and supplies.
• Work involves shift rotations, including weekends and holidays, with schedules determined with the Nurse/Practice Manager.
• Physical activities include lifting, standing, sitting, bending, walking, climbing, and reaching.
• Must handle a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
