Base pay range

$35,000.00/yr - $50,000.00/yr

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant will manage customer flow throughout the clinic and assist providers in the management and treatment of patients. Customers come from diverse backgrounds and age groups, requiring individualized care including infants, children, adolescents, adults, or geriatrics. The Medical Assistant focuses on collaborative, supportive, and delegated tasks as outlined in the Blaze Health Medical Assistant scope of practice, with specific competencies defined by the Minnesota Board of Nursing and the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. The Medical Assistant collaborates with the Clinic Supervisor, Clinic Manager, and Providers to meet organizational goals, communicating effectively regarding patient progress, concerns, and questions.

Clinical Care:

The Medical Assistant performs clinical and clerical tasks to facilitate customer flow, including rooming patients, administering immunizations, injections, medications, and collecting laboratory specimens. Depending on the clinic, duties may also include:

  • Providing telephone support
  • Facilitating communication between patients and providers
  • Assisting with prescription refills
  • Performing x-ray duties (if certified)
  • Performing phlebotomy
  • Conducting laboratory tests
Clinic Support:

The Medical Assistant may also support clinic operations by:

  • Front desk/check-in duties
  • Ordering and stocking supplies
  • Assisting with prior authorizations
Other Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Medical Assistant skills
  • Maintain and upgrade skills as necessary
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Follow directions from physicians, nurses, and management
Compliance:
  • Adhere to the Corporate Code of Conduct
  • Protect patient and staff privacy
  • Report violations or concerns
  • Comply with legal and procedural standards
Education & Certification:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program required
  • Certification preferred
Experience:
  • Previous clinical experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
  • Proficiency with computer applications
  • Travel may be required for Occupational Medicine
Licensure/Certification:
  • Current BLS Certification required
