Job summary

Astria Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our Sunnyside Clinic. You will assist with examinations, maintain patient records, prepare exam rooms, and support providers under RN or physician supervision.

Requires WA CMA certification or registered status with phlebotomist certification, CPR/BLS, and fluent English. Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Current Washington State Medical Assistant – Certified license.
• Current Washington State Medical Assistant – Registered with a Current Washington State Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification.
• Basic Cardiac Life support (BLS/CPR) certification.
• Oral and written fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Assist with examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a registered nurse or provider.
• Maintain patient medical records and prepare exam rooms and supplies.
• Collaborate with providers to ensure efficient schedules and continuity of care.
• Prepare instruments and equipment, explain procedures, and provide patient education within scope.
• Collect specimens, perform screenings, and document results in the EMR.
• Assist physicians during examinations and minor procedures as needed.

Astria Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team! This position is located in Sunnyside at our Astria Health Center.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

What you get to do every day!

As the Certified Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a registered nurse or provider, and general clinical duties. You will:

• Maintain patient medical records, updating patient medical history, current status including vital signs, medical treatments and medication provided. Reviews and updates patient immunization records.
• Prepare for patient visits. Reviews the patient file, including requests for labs, referrals and correspondence. Verifies and ensures necessary reports are present. Provides updates to Provider team as needed.
• Collaborate with Providers to ensure efficiency of schedules and continuity of care. Discusses patients scheduled for the day including pre-visit prep.
• Prepare and maintains patient exam rooms, ensuring that appropriate supplies are in the room and that necessary equipment is present and sterilized.
• Prepare patient for examinations, explaining medical treatment procedures as needed.
• Provide limited education and/or coaching for patients within scope. This includes discharge information and/or responding to follow-up questions. Instructs patients about medication and possible allergic reactions.
• Respond to patients’ questions and concerns in person and via email exchange. If the question is outside of scope, directs inquiries to appropriate person.
• Assist physician during examinations, procedures, treatments, and minor office surgeries.
• Anticipate Providers’ needs and manages Providers’ requests.
• Collect and prepares laboratory specimens. Completes screenings. Collects and reviews patient data per protocol. Follows up on test results as directed by healthcare Providers. Documents specimens collected and results in electronic medical record (EMR).
• Prepare and administers medication as directed by a physician.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Collaborate effectively across organizational boundaries.

Requirements

• Current Washington State Medical Assistant – Certified license(OR)
• Current Washington State Medical Assistant – Registered with a Current Washington State Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification
• Basic Cardiac Life support certification.
• Oral and written fluency in the English language
