Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Medical Assistant (CMA/CCMA) for a full-time role in Birmingham. The ideal candidate will assist physicians and the care team, perform clinical procedures to prepare patients or research participants, and handle light clerical or lab duties as needed.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, current CMA (AAMA) or CCMA (NHA) certification, and CPR certification or obtain it within 30 days of employment. A pre-employment drug screen is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Current CMA (AAMA) or CCMA (NHA) certification is required.
• If certified by another agency, AAMA or NHA certification must be obtained within six months.
• Current CPR certification is required or must be obtained within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical procedures to prepare patients and/or research participants for treatment or protocol.
• Assist physician or healthcare team with completion of treatment/protocol.
• Perform simple, non-invasive patient procedures according to policy, and may perform clerical/lab duties.
• Respond to the needs of patients from newborn to geriatric.

Education
