Job summary

Ascension Health in Round Rock, TX seeks a Medical Assistant to join the Cardiology team. You will prepare exam rooms, support patient transitions, and help maintain a smooth flow for the care team.

The position is full-time with a day shift, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The role emphasizes accurate vital signs, patient interviews, precise documentation, and reliable supply management to ensure continuous patient care.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification within 1 month of hire date.
• MA credentialing from NHA within 6 months of hire date.
• MA credentialing from NAHP within 6 months of hire date.
• MA credentialing from NCCT within 6 months of hire date.
• MA credentialing from AAMA within 6 months of hire date.
• MA credentialing from AMT within 6 months of hire date.
• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead clinical flow by preparing exam rooms and prioritizing patient transitions.
• Capture patient stories by measuring vital signs and interviewing patients.
• Transcribe diagnoses, orders, and follow-up instructions into the patient record.
• Manage supplies to ensure the team has equipment for patient care.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Lead the clinical flow by preparing exam rooms and prioritizing patient transitions to ensure a seamless, stress-free experience for both the provider and the patient.

• Capture the patient’s story by accurately measuring vital signs and interviewing patients to ensure the care team has a clear, real-time clinical picture before every consultation.

• Master clinical documentation by transcribing diagnoses, orders, and follow-up instructions into the patient record, ensuring the accuracy of the care journey from start to finish.

• Optimize the care environment by managing essential supplies and materials, ensuring the team is always equipped to provide uninterrupted patient care.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• One or more of the following required:

• Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.

• Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Association for Health Professionals obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.

• Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.

• Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.

• Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Additional Preferences:

• CMA experience

• Travel Required: Georgetown, Pflugerville and Liberty Hill - as needed
