Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for Pediatric Ambulatory Care at Dell Children's Pediatrics - Mueller in Austin, TX. The role supports exam rooms, vital signs, patient interviewing, and precise documentation during 8 AM–5 PM shifts, up to 2 days per week.

Remote work is possible; prior CMA experience (1+ year) is preferred, with multiple credential options required within 6 months. Competitive benefits and growth opportunities included.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 1 month of hire/transfer.
• American Heart Association or Red Cross accepted.
• MA credentialed from NHA within 6 months of hire; AMCA accepted.
• MA credentialed from multiple national bodies within 6 months of hire.
• Additional licensure/certifications may count toward education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead clinical flow by preparing exam rooms and managing patient transitions.
• Capture patient data through vital signs and interviews to provide a real-time clinical picture.
• Document diagnoses, orders and follow-up instructions accurately in the patient record.
• Manage essential supplies to keep the care team equipped for uninterrupted patient care.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Lead the clinical flow by preparing exam rooms and prioritizing patient transitions to ensure a seamless, stress‑free experience for both the provider and the patient.
• Capture the patient’s story by accurately measuring vital signs and interviewing patients to ensure the care team has a clear, real‑time clinical picture before every consultation.
• Master clinical documentation by transcribing diagnoses, orders, and follow‑up instructions into the patient record, ensuring the accuracy of the care journey from start to finish.
• Optimize the care environment by managing essential supplies and materials, ensuring the team is always equipped to provide uninterrupted patient care.

What minimum qualifications you’ll need

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
• Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Association for Health Professionals obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
• American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

• Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
