Job summary

Ascension in Austin, TX is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the Cardiology department. You will prepare exam rooms, take vital signs, and interview patients to build a real-time clinical picture for the care team.

You will transcribe diagnoses and orders into the patient record, ensuring accuracy throughout the patient journey. Responsibilities include managing essential supplies and ensuring the team is always equipped for uninterrupted patient care.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire date. American Heart Association or Red Cross accepted.
• One or more Medical Assistant credentials must be obtained within 6 months of hire from a recognized certifying body.

• Master clinical documentation by transcribing diagnoses, orders, and follow-up instructions into the patient record, ensuring the accuracy of the care journey from start to finish.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
• Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
• Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Association for Health Professionals obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
• Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
• Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
• Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
• Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Additional Requirements

• Required Travel: Bastrop, Pflugerville, South Austin, Smithville, Temple and Burnet - as needed
• Must reside within 30 miles of the primary clinic location
