Job summary

Ascension in Round Rock, TX is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join the OBGyn team. You will support clinical flow, prepare exam rooms, take vital signs, and document encounters in the EHR to keep the care team informed.

The role requires BLS certification and MA credentialing within 6 months, plus a high school diploma or equivalent; travel to Georgetown and Pflugerville as needed; 1 year CMA experience preferred; bilingual a plus.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 1 month of hire.
• MA credentialing from recognized body within 6 months of hire (AMCA/NCCT/AMT/AMMA).
• Education: high school diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and support clinical flow to ensure seamless patient transitions.
• Accurately measure vital signs and interview patients to provide real-time clinical context.
• Transcribe diagnoses, orders and follow-up instructions into the patient record.
• Manage essential supplies to ensure uninterrupted patient care.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Lead the clinical flow by preparing exam rooms and prioritizing patient transitions to ensure a seamless, stress-free experience for both the provider and the patient.
• Capture the patient’s story by accurately measuring vital signs and interviewing patients to ensure the care team has a clear, real-time clinical picture before every consultation.
• Master clinical documentation by transcribing diagnoses, orders, and follow-up instructions into the patient record, ensuring the accuracy of the care journey from start to finish.
• Optimize the care environment by managing essential supplies and materials, ensuring the team is always equipped to provide uninterrupted patient care.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

• Licensure / Certification / Registration:
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • One or more of the following required:
    • Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
    • Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Association for Health Professionals obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
    • Medical Assistant credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
    • Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
    • Medical Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT) obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Medical Certification (AMCA) also accepted.
• Education:
  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
• Additional Preferences:
  • Travel Required: Georgetown and Pflugerville, TX - as needed
  • 1 year of Women's Health CMA experience
  • Bilingual
