Job summary

University Hospital is seeking an Ambulatory Care Technician Certified (Certified Medical Assistant) to support patients from registration through discharge and follow-up. You will structure patient flow for the physicians in the examination and treatment of patients.

Responsibilities include interviewing and screening patients, documenting encounters in the EMR, administering vaccines and injections, and maintaining a safe, organized clinical space while coordinating with care teams.

Qualifications

• Must be computer proficient.
• BLS (CPR) from AHA or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to maintain a timely and organized flow of patients and visitors throughout their experience in Ambulatory Care Services and with University Hospital.
• Prepares patients for visits including interviewing and screening patients for designated criteria to include but not limited to medical, surgical, gynecological, and obstetric history, medication history, chief complaint, vital signs, pain, and height and weight.
• Documents all patient encounters in the electronic medical record.
• Knowledgeable of and then notifies the provider of abnormal vital signs immediately during the patient visit.
• Obtains clinical data and performs procedures as requested/directed by the provider.
• Administers vaccinations and administers subcutaneous, intradermal, and intramuscular injections according to University Hospital Policy.
• Provides allergy and other screening as designated by University Hospital policy and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintains effective working relationship with coworkers; demonstrates teamwork.
• Verifies patient insurance benefits and precertification for services to be provided.
• Maintains safe and clean environment; and prepares clinical space and supplies.
