Job summary

University Hospital in Newark, NJ is seeking an Ambulatory Care Technician Certified (Certified Medical Assistant) to support patients from registration through discharge. You will structure patient flow, assist with injections, and document encounters in the EMR.

Requirements include CMA certification (or NJ-eligible alternative) and CPR/BLS, with preferred experience in ambulatory care. Excellent teamwork and patient care focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold CMA certification or equivalent (AAMA/NCCT/NHA/AMCA/NAHP/NCMA/AMT) or be licensed in NJ to give injections.
• Must be proficient in computer use and aware of patient data privacy requirements.
• CPR/BLS from AHA or Red Cross required.
• Must have completed and passed annual review of medication administration with 80+ on post-test.

Responsibilities

• Maintains timely and organized flow of patients and visitors in Ambulatory Care Services.
• Prepares patients for visits by interviewing/screening for medical history and vital signs.
• Documents all patient encounters in the electronic medical record.
• Notifies provider of abnormal vitals during patient visits.
• Administers vaccines and injections per hospital policy.
• Maintains safe, clean environment and prepares clinical space and supplies.
