Job summary

University Hospital in Newark, NJ is seeking an Ambulatory Care Technician Certified (Certified Medical Assistant) to support the patient visit from registration through discharge and follow up. You will structure the patient flow for physicians in examination and treatment and administer injections as directed.

Responsibilities include front-end and clinical office procedures, verifying insurance precertification, and assisting with billing.

Qualifications

• Current certification from CMA-issuing boards (AAMA/NCCT/AMCA/NAHP/NCMA/AMT) or registration per NJ rules.
• BLS (CPR) from AHA or Red Cross.
• Licensed in NJ to give injections if applicable by regulation.
• Proven ability to administer IM and subcutaneous injections; safe MedTech practice.
• At least 1 year of medical office experience; computer proficiency; bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support patient flow from registration through discharge and follow up.
• Obtain clinical data and perform procedures as directed by the provider.
• Maintain teamwork and effective relationships with coworkers.
• Verify patient insurance benefits and precertification for services.
• Assist with billing procedures and forms as directed.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and prepare clinical space and supplies.
