University Hospital in Newark, NJ seeks an Ambulatory Care Technician Certified (Certified Medical Assistant) to support patients from registration through discharge. The role includes structuring patient flow, assisting physicians, and performing injections under state regulations.

The position requires current CMA/NCCT/AMCA/NAHP/NCMA/AMT certification or NJ licensure, with competency in IM and subcutaneous injections, plus CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Current certification from the certifying Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or NCCT/NAHP/AMCA/NCMA/AMT, or NJ license allowing injections.
• Must demonstrate competency in intramuscular and subcutaneous techniques.
• Complete annual review of medication administration with post-test (80+).
• Must be computer proficient and able to use EMR systems.
• BLS/CPR certification from AHA or Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Works collaboratively to maintain a timely and organized flow of patients in Ambulatory Care Services.
• Prepares patients for visits including interviewing and screening for medical history, medications, vital signs, and other data.
• Documents all patient encounters in the electronic medical record.
• Notifies provider of abnormal vital signs during visits.
• Administers vaccinations and injections per policy.
• Verifies insurance benefits and precertifications.
• Maintains a safe and clean clinical space and supplies.
