Job summary

Ohio ENT seeks a motivated Certified Medical Assistant to join our Oral Pathology team in Westerville, OH. The role blends administrative and clinical duties to support efficient patient flow, assist with procedures, manage EHR and patient communication. You will work closely with clinicians, provide post-care instructions and ensure accurate charting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a medical office environment.
  • Dental office experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of GE-Centricity practice management software and EHR beneficial but not required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
  • Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment.
  • Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system.
  • Must know sterile technique.
  • Adheres to all HIPAA privacy and security regulations and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain appearance, cleanliness and stock in examination rooms and procedure areas.
  • Sterilize instruments and prepare rooms per infection control protocols.
  • Instruct patients regarding prep for tests and procedures.
  • Communicate biopsy results clearly and explain treatment options to patients.
  • Assist physician with biopsies and laser ablation; document treatment sites.
  • Take baseline vital signs and patient history.
  • Evaluate new patient charts prepared by front desk.
  • Answer incoming calls and assist in callbacks and prescriptions.
  • Greet patients and escort them to clinical areas.
  • Manage EHR desktop alerts and flags.
  • Provide discharge instructions and review handouts with patients.
  • Assist other clinicians with patient care activities.

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Certified Medical Assistants to join our Oral Pathology team. This position requires a combination of administrative and clinical duties, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow in our clinic. You will assist with procedures, manage patient records and provide patients with information on procedures, post-care instructions and biopsy results.

Work Hours:

Mon-Fri | 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Occasional overtime required.

Work Location:

Essential Functions:
  • Maintain general appearance, cleanliness and stock in examination rooms, procedure rooms, and instrument processing room.
  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments and examination rooms according to infection control protocols, restock supplies and prepare rooms for a safe, clean and organized environment.
  • Instruct Patients regarding appropriate preparation for certain diagnostic tests and procedures.
  • Emphatically and professionally communicate biopsy results to patients, providing a clear explanation of findings and recommended treatment plans. Listen to concerns while offering emotional support to educate the patient on their condition.
  • Aid physician in scalpel biopsies and CO2 laser ablation by means of preparing procedural trays and assisting with oral retraction as indicated, following with precise documentation of treatment site(s) and surgical narrative(s).
  • Takes baseline vital signs and patient history.
  • Evaluates new patient charts prepared by front desk.
  • Answer incoming phone calls. Assist in patient call backs and calls in prescriptions under the direction of the RN/MD.
  • Professionally greets all patients and escorts them to clinical areas.
  • Manages EHR desktop and alerts/flags.
  • Provides discharge instruction/education to patients. Reviews handouts with patients.
  • Assists other members of the clinical team with all patient care activities.

Skills/Experience:
