Summary
Position Highlights:
- Medical Assistants are essential members of the clinic team. They contribute to patient care by assisting with exams and procedures, managing patient flow, and taking on other responsibilities based on departmental needs.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has prior experience in an outpatient clinic setting as a Medical Assistant.
- Has experience performing phlebotomy.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with ambulation and movement on/off exam tables, chairs, or in/out of wheelchairs using proper body mechanics and safety measures.
- Perform initial patient screening after proper identification, including vital signs, screening questions, allergy info, and medication history. Notify staff of positive screenings or abnormal vital signs. Document data accurately in medical records. Load images for provider visits as needed. Ensure smooth clinic flow and communicate delays effectively.
- Assist practitioners during procedures/examinations, including room prep, patient positioning, and supply management. Maintain aseptic techniques and universal precautions.
- Provide care based on patient age and needs, utilizing computerized systems as required.
- Support providers during clinic hours by handling phone calls and faxes.
- Recognize emergencies and implement appropriate procedures, including administering first aid and CPR.

Medical Assistant Trainee:
- High school diploma or GED, required.
- BLS certification, required.
- Completion of Medical Assistant Program.
- CMA certification within 6 months of hire.
Clinical Assistant:
- High school diploma or GED, required.

- 1 year of outpatient Medical Assistant experience or equivalent.
- CMA certification within 6 months of hire.
Certified Medical Assistant:
- High school diploma or GED, required.
- BLS certification, required.

Certified Medical Assistant II:
