Rosecrance Ware Center in Rockford, IL is seeking a Medical Assistant to directly supervise clients and assist psychiatric providers with health history and assessments. You will ensure ethical, compliant care within a safe environment and support medication management under supervision.

The role offers onsite work, a starting pay of $18.43/hr for HS/GED, and a $2,000 sign-on bonus for full-time medical assistants. Benefit programs include health, retirement, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and one year of addiction treatment experience or equivalent education.
• CPR and First Aid training completed within three months.
• Skilled in behavioral management techniques.
• Ability to lead discussion and educational presentations.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet agency insurance requirements.
• Must have own transportation.

Responsibilities

• Schedule new client psychiatric evaluation appointments and follow-up medication management appointments.
• Monitor and respond to calls to the psychiatry appointment scheduling line.
• Track and distribute data related to call volume and appointments scheduled.
• Conduct client health history/assessment and report to the psychiatric provider prior to appointments.
• Assist with vital signs assessments and follow-up on medical concerns.
• Monitor and document client responses to medication and report notable changes.
• Advocate for clients and report concerns to medical and clinical staff.
• Supervise client behavior and apply appropriate interventions.
• Facilitate communication between clinical and medical staff.
• Provide client education on medications, physical and mental health, and substance use issues.
• Prepare clients for provider appointments and document in the EHR daily.
• Participate in Ware Center Medical Services team meetings and activities.
• Attend staff and department meetings and comply with Rosecrance compliance and conduct standards.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and be a positive role model for staff and clients.

Position Summary Directly supervise clients while assisting psychiatric providers and nursing with client health history/assessment at psychiatric appointments. • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid training complete within three months
• Skilled in behavioral management techniques
• Ability to lead discussion and educational presentations

• Schedule new client psychiatric evaluation appointments and follow-up medication management appointments.

• Provide follow-up communication to clients with ongoing medical concerns.
• Monitor and document client’s response to medication and report any notable response immediately.
• Act as an advocate for all clients and report all physical/psychological concerns to the medical and clinical staff.
• Supervise and manage the behavior of the clients and provide appropriate behavioral interventions and consequences.
• Facilitate communication between clinical and medical staff.
• Provide client education in individual and group settings on topics including: medications, physical health, mental health and alcohol and substance abuse issues.
• Assist with preparing clients for their appointments with the provider.
• Document pertinent information daily in the EHR based on observations and involvement with the clients as required.
• Serve as a member of the Ware Center Medical Services team and participate in all team meetings and activities.
• Attend all scheduled meetings of staff, such as nursing meetings, department meetings, or appropriate committee meetings as designated.
• Understand and comply with all of the principles established by the Rosecrance Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
• Deliver exceptional customer service consistently to every customer.
• Serve as a role model for other staff, clients and customers and demonstrate positive guest relations in representing Rosecrance.
