Job summary

CommonSpirit Medical Group - Family Medicine - Ooltewah is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support the care team, perform screenings, assist procedures, educate patients, and coordinate care using health tech tools.

You will greet patients, take vital signs, assist with labs and injections, and ensure privacy and safety while delivering compassionate, patient-centered service in a fast-paced clinic.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with certifications listed upon hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant credentials expected at or soon after hire.
• CPR/BLS certification within 30 days of start.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient safety and protect patient privacy rights.
• Perform general patient care following established standards.
• Greet and prepare patients for the healthcare provider.
• Obtain and record vital signs (BP, temp, pulse, resp, height, weight, allergies, meds).
• May draw blood samples and prepare specimens for lab analysis.
• Administer medications and/or vaccines via multiple routes.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at CommonSpirit Medical Group - Family Medicine - Ooltewah, you will be a vital pillar of our care team, significantly impacting patient well-being through direct support and seamless coordination.

Every day, you will actively collaborate on comprehensive screenings, assist with clinical procedures, provide essential health education, and expertly manage administrative tasks, leveraging technology to coordinate care for diverse patient populations. You will ensure patients feel at ease, patiently explaining instructions and addressing their concerns.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong clinical knowledge, technological fluency, genuine compassion for patient well‑being, and an adaptable spirit keen on continuous learning and collaborative teamwork.

• Provide for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.
• Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
• Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider.
• Obtain and record vital signs including but not limited to, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.
• May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topically, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Graduate or
• High School GED and
• May require specialized training, such as Non-Certified Radiologic Technician.
• Certified Medical Assistant AAMA, upon hire or
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, upon hire or
• Certified Medical Assistant NHA, upon hire or
• National Certified Medical Assistant NCCT, upon hire or
• National Registered/Certified Medical Assistant NAHP, upon hire or
• Registered Medical Assistant AMT, upon hire or
• Registered Medical Assistant, upon hire or
• Cert Med Asst - MMCI, upon hire and
• Basic Life Support - CPR, within 30 Days

Preferred

• Completion of a Certified Medical Assistant course or Exam
• Two (2) years Medical Assistant experience
• Electronic health record experience
