Job summary

Saint Joseph Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Plymouth Family and Internal Medicine clinic. The role supports physicians and other healthcare professionals in ambulatory care, delivering direct and indirect patient care and ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and completion of a medical assistant program, with preferred MA certification and CPR within 60 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; completion of a one‑year medical assistant program or an accredited two‑year medical assisting program.
• Certification or registration as Medical Assistant preferred; CPR within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and healthcare providers in the ambulatory care setting.

• Support clinical staff with basic medical office tasks as needed.

Job Summary

• The Medical Assistant supports physicians and other professional healthcare providers in the ambulatory care setting by delivering both direct and indirect patient care. This position performs routine medical assisting procedures to promote patient comfort, safety, and quality care.

Job Specifications and Core Competencies

Education:

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent and/or graduate of: (1) a one‑year medical assistant program (2) an accredited two‑year medical assisting program. Previous experience/training in general medical office skills and procedures. Proficient/knowledgeable in medical terminology.

Licensure:

• Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant through AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA is preferred at hire and required within 90 days
• CPR certification required within 60 days of hire

Experience:

• One to three years of experience in a medical or physician office preferred
• Basic business office, clinical, and computer skills preferred
