The Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative/clerical tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). One of the following certifications is required upon hire: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or EMT Basic Certification (EMT). The Medical Assistant provides an environment for safety, identifies and addresses safety principles for patients, visitors, and employees, and delivers patient care tasks and administrative duties. Demonstrates objective assessment, considers alternatives, assists in developing realistic action plans, and evaluates outcomes while following department and system policies, procedures, and practices. Productive and efficient in daily operations, utilizing appropriate resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible. Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.
