Sentara Medical Group Family Medicine Providence Office is now hiring a Full-Time Medical Assistant in Virginia Beach, VA. Hours are Monday–Friday, dayshift 7:30am to 4:30pm with occasional 7:00am start; no nights, holidays, or weekends.

A sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 is available for qualified candidates. The Medical Assistant will perform patient care and administrative/clerical tasks under the direction of the physician, NP/PA, RN or LPN, contributing to safe patient care and efficient daily

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• CMA, RMA, CCMA or EMT Basic certification.
• BLS certification required within 90 days from hire.
• Clinical/admin experience 1 year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care and administrative/clerical tasks under supervision.
• Supports safety and efficient daily operations as part of the care team.
• Adheres to department policies, procedures, and practice standards.

Hours:

Monday-Friday, Dayshift 730am (occasional 7am start) - 430p. NO NIGHTS, HOLIDAYS or WEEKENDS!

Overview

The Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative and clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

The Medical Assistant provides an environment for safety; identifies, addresses, and incorporates principles of safety for the patient, visitors, and employees. Provides patient care tasks and procedures and administrative duties (as appropriate). Demonstrates the ability to objectively assess a specific situation from a number of viewpoints considers an array of alternatives, assists with the development of realistic action plans and evaluates outcomes. Demonstrates the development of the specific skills and knowledge required of medical assistants, effective inter-departmental interactions, and ability to follow department and system policies, procedures, and practices. Productive and efficient in daily operations. Utilizes appropriate resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible.

Education

• HS Diploma

Certification/Licensure

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or EMT Basic Certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days from hire

Experience

• Clinical/Adminsirative Experience 1 year preferred
