Responsibilities
- Perform general patient care following established clinic workflows.
- Greet and prepare patients for the healthcare provider by obtaining and recording vital signs, reviewing drug allergies and current medications, completing applicable screening questionnaires, and documenting the reason for visit.
- Collect and prepare ordered specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Prepare and provide ordered medications and/or vaccines to patients.
- Clean and sterilize instruments.
- Ensure patient exam rooms are stocked, clean, and orderly.
- Escalate non-routine issues, questions, and/or concerns timely and appropriately.
- Complete safety checklists and quality controls as required, taking necessary actions if indicated.
- Perform other duties within the scope of role as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education for Staff Job Levels:
- Graduate of a medical assisting program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP).
- Programs accredited by other credentialed bodies may be considered if the program included a formal externship.
Required Licensure and Certifications:
- Active status on the Nebraska Medication Aide Registry within 90 days of hire.
- Current/valid nationally recognized certification, registration, or recognition for medical assistants (AAMA/CMA, RMA, NCMA) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
