Job description

Responsibilities
  • Perform general patient care following established clinic workflows.
  • Greet and prepare patients for the healthcare provider by obtaining and recording vital signs, reviewing drug allergies and current medications, completing applicable screening questionnaires, and documenting the reason for visit.
  • Collect and prepare ordered specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Prepare and provide ordered medications and/or vaccines to patients.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments.
  • Ensure patient exam rooms are stocked, clean, and orderly.
  • Escalate non-routine issues, questions, and/or concerns timely and appropriately.
  • Complete safety checklists and quality controls as required, taking necessary actions if indicated.
  • Perform other duties within the scope of role as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Education for Staff Job Levels:

  • Graduate of a medical assisting program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP).
  • Programs accredited by other credentialed bodies may be considered if the program included a formal externship.

Required Licensure and Certifications:

  • Active status on the Nebraska Medication Aide Registry within 90 days of hire.
  • Current/valid nationally recognized certification, registration, or recognition for medical assistants (AAMA/CMA, RMA, NCMA) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
