Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an exciting potential opportunity for a Certified Medical Assistant to support Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA.

Minimum Requirements

• US Citizen
• Degree/Education: Must be a graduate of a medical assistant training program recognized by an educational institution accredited by the U.S. Department of Education. Preferred qualifications include graduation from a program accredited by CAAHEP, ABHES, AAMA, or a formal medical services training program of the U.S. Armed Forces.
• BLS certification through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience: 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant after graduation. Pediatric experience and customer service experience are preferred.
• Licensure/Registration: Hold an active and unrestricted license or certification to practice as a Medical Assistant.

Duties

Serves as a Medical Assistant performing a range of standard patient care procedures in an outpatient primary care or specialty care clinic supporting the delivery of patient-centered care for newborn, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. The clinic settings may include, but are not limited to, Family Practice, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, and other sub-specialty clinics. A certified medical assistant may perform the following duties delegated by, and under the supervision of, a government supervisor:

• Clinical Support & Patient Care: Room patients, prepare for exams, procedures, and minor surgeries. Obtain and document vital signs, patient history, and complaints in the electronic health record. Assist providers during exams and procedures. Perform aseptic techniques, assist with wound care, administer medications, and conduct intake screenings.
• Diagnostic Testing & Specimen Collection: Perform and assist with diagnostic tests, collect specimens using appropriate techniques, process and transport specimens, and conduct CLIA-waived tests if qualified.
• Equipment, Environment & Infection Control: Maintain and clean exam areas, sterilize instruments, adhere to infection control protocols.
• Administrative & Support Duties: Check-in patients, schedule appointments, support referrals, and assist with onboarding and inventory management.
• Emergency Response & Safety: Recognize and respond to life-threatening situations, initiate CPR, and promote a safe environment.
