Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our multidisciplinary addiction recovery team. The CMA will play a vital role in supporting patients through their recovery journey by assisting with clinical care, medication administration, and coordination of services in a respectful and nonjudgmental environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and room patients; document vital signs, medical history, and presenting symptoms
- Assist providers during medical and behavioral health assessments
- Administer prescribed medications and injections, including MAT (e.g., Suboxone, Vivitrol, Sublocade) under provider supervision
- Collect and process urine drug screens and lab specimens per protocol
- Monitor and report withdrawal symptoms using appropriate clinical tools (e.g., COWS/CINA)
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR
- Support coordination of care with behavioral health providers and case managers
- Educate patients about medications, treatment plans, and self-care strategies
- Maintain exam rooms and ensure cleanliness, supply stock, and infection control procedures
- Uphold patient confidentiality, safety, and dignity at all times
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Current CMA certification (AAMA, NHA, or equivalent)
- CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to remain calm and supportive in emotionally charged situations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience working with EMRs and basic computer proficiency
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in addiction treatment, mental health, or behavioral healthcare
- Knowledge of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) protocols
