REPORTS TO: SUPERVISOR OF CLINICAL SUPPORT STAFF

SUPERVISES: N/A

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our multidisciplinary addiction recovery team. The CMA will play a vital role in supporting patients through their recovery journey by assisting with clinical care, medication administration, and coordination of services in a respectful and nonjudgmental environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and room patients; document vital signs, medical history, and presenting symptoms
  • Assist providers during medical and behavioral health assessments
  • Administer prescribed medications and injections, including MAT (e.g., Suboxone, Vivitrol, Sublocade) under provider supervision
  • Collect and process urine drug screens and lab specimens per protocol
  • Monitor and report withdrawal symptoms using appropriate clinical tools (e.g., COWS/CINA)
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR
  • Support coordination of care with behavioral health providers and case managers
  • Educate patients about medications, treatment plans, and self-care strategies
  • Maintain exam rooms and ensure cleanliness, supply stock, and infection control procedures
  • Uphold patient confidentiality, safety, and dignity at all times

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Current CMA certification (AAMA, NHA, or equivalent)
  • CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to remain calm and supportive in emotionally charged situations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with EMRs and basic computer proficiency

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience in addiction treatment, mental health, or behavioral healthcare
  • Knowledge of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) protocols
