Summary

Jacksonville Children's Multispecialty Clinic / Atlantic Medical Management is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) for our Alamance / Elon practice - Alamance Pediatrics & Family Medicine - JCMC. The CMA provides patient care under the supervision of a physician and assists providers and the clinical care team. Responsibilities include clinical tasks and administrative duties such as answering phones and scheduling appointments. The role requires flexibility and teamwork, with the ability to work additional hours if needed.

Essential Functions

  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Answer telephones and greet patients professionally and courteously.
  • Update patient records accurately in NextGen EHR system.
  • Assist in patient care from pre-visit to post-visit.
  • Guide patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician.
  • Take medical histories and vital signs.
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients effectively.
  • Assist physicians during examinations and procedures, including giving injections and removing sutures.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform tests on-site.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of instruments and treatment rooms.
  • Educate patients and provide web-based resources.
  • Prepare and administer medications as directed, and conduct medication reconciliation.
  • Document medical visits thoroughly in the EHR and inform patients about after-hours care.
  • Participate in workflow and quality improvement meetings.
  • Stay current on health data and attend training sessions.
  • Handle pharmacy prescriptions and refills as authorized.
  • Perform additional clinical tasks delegated by the physician.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited CMA program.
  • Pediatric MA experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of clinical experience.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask.
