Job description

UnityPoint Clinic Denver Family Medicine (will also float to Waverly as needed)

PRN As Needed

Responsibilities

1. Assist provider and other clinical staff with obtaining basic vital information, preparing patients for examination, treatment, and minor surgical procedures.
2. Track system for follow-up appointments related to office visits, laboratory tests, and procedures to monitor disease status regularly.
3. Schedule referrals for patients with specialists or outpatient services as requested by the provider. Complete necessary forms or requisitions for referrals or lab testing, including appropriate CPT / ICD-9 coding.
4. Answer questions and provide teaching to patients and family members.
5. Facilitate and support relationships between providers (e.g., within clinic, referring) and with ancillary services.
6. Understand anatomical impacts (phases/stages, thresholds) for clinic specialty services, including co-morbidities and influences affecting patient care and treatment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited program for Licensed Practical Nurses.
• Current license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa / Illinois for Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Graduate of an accredited CMA program and certified through AAMA, NHA, NCCT, or AMT.
• Previous clinical experience in a medical office preferred.
• BLS and Mandatory Reporter certification.
