Job summary

UnityPoint Clinic in Altoona, IA seeks a compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support patient care across exams, treatments, and education. The role is based at Altoona Family Medicine with a Mon-Fri schedule, 7:30 AM–5:00 PM, 36 hours per week, full-time plus benefits.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking histories and vitals, and assisting with procedures while ensuring safety and a patient-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Compassionate CMA with patient-care focus.
• Certification or registry as CMA required or preferred.
• Experience in clinical/outpatient settings is a plus.

• Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments per scope of licensure
• Educate patients on health, medications, and follow-up care
• Coordinate referrals and patient care follow-ups
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or Associate’s Degree) required.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required:
• National Healthcare Association
• American Association of Medical Assistants
• National Center for Competency Testing
• National Certified Medical Assistant
• National Association of Health Professionals
• American Registry of Medical Assistants
• American Allied Health
• American Medical Technologists
• Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred
• Familiarity with EPIC a plus!
• For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing
