Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a compassionate Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our Cardiology Clinic at Methodist Plaza. The role is Monday–Friday, 7:30AM–4PM, full-time with benefits.

The CMA will assist physicians, perform patient education, and support exams and treatments in a fast-paced cardiology setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the listed certifying bodies.
• Experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred.
• Familiarity with EPIC is a plus.
• May float to other UnityPoint Clinic locations to support staffing.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians during patient exams and procedures
• Room patients, record histories, vital signs, and document in the EHR
• Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments per scope of licensure
• Educate patients on health, medications, and follow-up care
• Coordinate referrals and patient care follow-ups
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required:
• National Healthcare Association
• American Association of Medical Assistants
• National Center for Competency Testing
• National Certified Medical Assistant
• National Association of Health Professionals
• American Registry of Medical Assistants
• American Allied Health
• American Medical Technologists
• Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred
• Familiarity with EPIC a plus!
• For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing
