Ascension Health is seeking a Lactation Specialist for the WIC program at St. Vincent Warrick Hospital in Boonville, IN. You will assess goals, create personalized lactation plans, and educate families to support long-term breastfeeding success.

You will guide nursing staff and physicians as a clinical resource, leading patient teaching plan design and data-driven quality improvements across the care team.

Qualifications

• Certification specializing in Lactation required before hire date.
• Education options listed include HS equivalency or higher degrees.
• Experience with breastfeeding preferred.
• RNs, Dietitians, or Bachelor’s in Nutrition/Dietetics preferred.

How you'll make an impact in this role

• Assess the unique goals and challenges of each mother and infant to create personalized lactation plans that support long-term breastfeeding success.

• Educate families by demonstrating evidence-based techniques, empowering them with the skills and knowledge to nourish their infants confidently.

• Guide nursing staff and physicians as a specialized clinical resource, ensuring a unified and supportive approach to lactation care across the medical team.

• Lead the design of patient teaching plans and data-driven initiatives to constantly improve the quality of care and health outcomes for our newest arrivals.

What minimum requirements you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Certification specializing in Lactation obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Additional Preferences:

• RNs, Registered Dieticians, and those with a Bachelor's in Nutrition/Dietetics

• Experience with breastfeeding

• Certified lactation specialist or IBCLC licensure
