Job summary

Ocean Beach Health is seeking a full-time Laboratory Assistant to draw blood from patients for analysis and transfusion, label and document specimens, and support the lab team with clerical tasks in a hospital setting.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, familiarity with medical terminology, and Washington State Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist Certification. Prior hospital lab experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent, college preferred.
• Familiar with Medical Terminology.
• Washington State Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist Certification.
• Prior experience in hospital/health care operations, with laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draw blood from patients for analysis or transfusion.
• Label and document specimens clearly.
• Assist Laboratory staff with paperwork, phone calls, EMR entries, and result transmissions.
• May perform waived testing after proving competency.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
