Ocean Beach Health is seeking a full-time Laboratory Assistant to draw blood from patients for analysis and transfusion, label and document specimens, and support the lab team with clerical tasks in a hospital setting.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, familiarity with medical terminology, and Washington State Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist Certification. Prior hospital lab experience is preferred.

Job Summary:
The Lab Assistant draws blood from patients for analysis or transfusion. Following blood collection, phlebotomists clearly label and document the specimens. Blood collection and record-keeping are crucial. The Lab Assistant will deal with patients, staff, and providers in a courteous and respectful manner on a daily basis.
Assists the Laboratory staff by preparing appropriate paperwork for completion of laboratory tests; answers telephones; filing patient orders, faxing results, entering orders into our EMR, and may assist with patient preparation according to departmental policies and procedures. Laboratory assistance may perform waived testing after proving competency. Performs all other assigned tasks as required.
