Job summary

Trinity Health in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a licensed professional for full-time Hyperbaric Medicine duties, including serving as Hyperbaric Safety Officer and delivering HBO therapy. Qualifications

• Must be credentialed or licensed in the state where working.
• Minimum of two years experience in Hyperbaric Medicine preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a working knowledge of the policies and procedures of Hyperbaric Medicine.
• Ascertain that the patient's diagnosis is one of the approved disorders for HBO Therapy and correctly entered on charts/records.
• Implement the physician's orders as indicated by the treatment plan.
• Educate patient/family on benefits, risks, contraindications, and safety issues of hyperbaric oxygen therapy prior to treatment.
• Perform blood glucose monitoring as ordered.
• Inspect patient prior to HBO treatment to ensure safety standards (100% cotton, no makeup, no hairspray).
• Perform the HBO treatment and monitor the patient during therapy.
• Perform dressing changes and wound care within scope of practice; participate in clinic when HBO volumes are below par.
• Take serial photographs of the wound for reporting patient progress.
• Evaluate patient outcomes and discuss with manager and hyperbaric physician to adjust treatment.
• Consult with hyperbaric physician regarding adverse reactions.
• Document treatment notes and maintain patient records.

Description:

Full time position in Hyperbaric Medicine Dept.

Will also work as the Hyperbaric Safety Officer.

What you will do:

• Demonstrate a working knowledge of the policies and procedures of Hyperbaric Medicine.


• Ascertain that the patient's diagnosis is one of the appropriate approved disorders for HBO Therapy, and that the said diagnosis is clearly entered on the patient's charts/records.


• Implement the physician's orders as indicated by the patient's treatment plan.


• Educate patient and/or patient's family as to the benefits, risks, contraindications, and safety issues of hyperbaric oxygen therapy prior to treatment.


• Perform blood glucose monitoring as ordered and indicated by patient diagnosis.


• Inspect the patient prior to the commencement of each HBO treatment to ensure all safety standards are being adhered to, i.e. 100% cotton attire, no makeup, no hairspray, etc.


• Perform the HBO treatment and monitor the patient during therapy.


• Perform dressing changes and/or wound care within scope of practice, as ordered and participate in clinic when HBO volumes are below par.


• Take serial photographs of the wound for reporting of the patient's progress.


• Evaluate the patient outcome and meet with the manager and the hyperbaric physician to discuss patient treatment and adjust treatment as necessary.


• Consult with hyperbaric physician regarding any adverse reactions.


• Document treatment notes and maintain patient treatment/diagnostic records.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be a credentialed or licensed in the state where working.


• Minimum of two (2) years experience in Hyperbaric Medicine is preferred.

Licensure:

Current Florida state license or certification is required in one of the following areas:

1. National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist


2. Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician


3. Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN)


4. Registered Nurse


5. Emergency Medical Technician


6. Certified Hyperbaric Technologist


7. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent


8. Surgical Technologist
